Located in Downtown Las Vegas, the Discovery Children's Museum (also known as Lied Discovery Children's Museum) features absolutely spectacular play facilities. But the best part? Kids get to learn new things while having the time of their lives! It's an incredibly powerful edutainment destination for burning off that endless child energy. If you ever have the chance to bring kids around 2 to 10 years old to the downtown area, you absolutely have to explore this hidden gem together! Let's take a look at just how much fun the Discovery Children's Museum really is!

If you're coming from the Las Vegas Strip via public transport, we recommend taking the Deuce bus to The STRAT and transferring to the free Downtown Loop shuttle. Other city buses don't drop you right at the museum's front entrance, but the Downtown Loop stops right at the door, making it super convenient. A quick heads-up: the Downtown Loop uses large buses, making it impossible to wheel a stroller on board. If you're bringing one, make sure it's a lightweight, easily foldable model.

As soon as you walk into the children's museum, you'll spot the ticket counter.

Admission applies to everyone ages 1 to 99, so both adults and children need to pay for a ticket to enter. You can, of course, book ahead on their official website, though the prices seem to be the same either way.

The Discovery Children's Museum spans three floors, each with its own unique themes. For example, the first floor features a massive water play area, a dedicated Toddler Town, and a vintage European-style theater stage. The second floor is all about career simulation, complete with a hospital, dental clinic, professional sports zone, retail store, auto repair shop, and even an airport with a flight cockpit! The third floor houses an art zone and a game area with clever little activities to get kids thinking and learning while they play.

Besides the amazing permanent exhibits, there are different activities hosted throughout the day. Right at the entrance, you'll see a large bulletin board listing the day's schedule. It's a great idea to note down any events you want to join as soon as you arrive!

The water play area is an absolute magnet for kids! They use water jets to launch balls up into high tracks, watching them slide all the way down. It's basically a gigantic, super-sized marble run—so cool!

The museum actually provides raincoats, but we highly recommend bringing a dry change of clothes anyway. Our son played until he was completely drenched!

Not only do they get to have a blast playing with water, but they inadvertently learn some water physics along the way.

Toddler Town is designed like a little mining site, packed with interactive stations where adults and toddlers can work together to complete "mining" tasks.

The train design is spot-on and perfectly hits the sweet spot for toddlers' interests!

Also on the first floor is a medieval European-style mini-theater. One side looks like a classic European castle, and the other side resembles a pirate ship!

Inside the castle, the museum provides a bunch of cosplay costumes, letting the little ones dress up and put on their own stage plays.

Up on the second floor is the career simulation zone! There's an enormous set of teeth and a giant toothbrush—watching a little toddler brush these oversized teeth is just too cute.

Next up, we visited the hospital for an X-ray! With interactive buttons and screens, kids can easily entertain themselves here for quite a while.

They can also play "Operation" hospital-style! Kids use metal tongs to pick up human organs. If the tongs touch the metal edges around the organ, it sets off an error buzzer. It's actually quite fun and surprisingly challenging!

The professional athlete area is beautifully designed, complete with cheerleader gear to play with.

As a massive car enthusiast, our son's absolute favorite spot was naturally the auto repair shop!

The airport section is also incredibly lifelike and detailed.

He eventually settled into this interactive flight cockpit and had absolutely no intention of leaving anytime soon!

The area shown above is divided into several small tables, each featuring a different interactive game. We tried out the earthquake simulation! The goal is to use the toys provided on the table to engineer an earthquake-resistant building. Once you're done, you press a button and the table starts shaking to test if your structure can stay standing. It really gets the kids thinking and is incredibly fun!

Also on the third floor is the dedicated art area.

The most eye-catching feature on the third floor is the giant air-powered pinball machine! Kids feed plastic balls into the machine, and strong gusts of air blow them up into the maze before they cascade down. It's surprisingly therapeutic to watch.

There's also an interactive racing game setup!

Just to the left after you enter the museum, there's a huge orange play structure that spans all three floors! Kids can freely climb up and down the different levels instead of taking the elevator, exploring their way up at their own pace. Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough time, so we totally missed out on exploring this section.

Perhaps it's because this was Cherry's very first time taking our little one to a dedicated "Children's Museum," but she was absolutely blown away by the Discovery Children's Museum! The interactive design of the exhibits isn't just fun for kids—even adults find it fascinating. (Looking at you, giant water marble run and third-floor air pinball!) Not to mention the adorable career simulation town and all the educational displays and mini-games. It is absolutely enough to keep kids happily exhausted for a full day. If you happen to be in Las Vegas with kids aged 2 to 10, we couldn't recommend this eye-opening spot enough!
