An absolute must-visit attraction on your Dubai trip is the Dubai Frame—a massive, gold-plated picture frame that perfectly captures both Old and New Dubai in a single glance! Dubai loves breaking world records, and in 2018, they opened this incredible landmark. Standing 150 meters tall and 93 meters wide, covered in 15,000 square meters of gold plating, it proudly holds the title of the world's largest picture frame! Originally built to welcome the Dubai Expo 2020, the frame's exterior pattern is inspired by the Expo's logo, giving the golden facade an incredibly luxurious and dazzling feel. Its colossal and eye-catching design instantly made it one of Dubai's hottest and most popular attractions right after opening!

★ Opening Hours: Daily 9 AM - 9 PM | Map Link
★ Ticket Info: Official Website | Klook | Included in the Klook Dubai Pass | Children under 3 enter free

Compared to other Dubai attractions that can easily cost dozens of dollars, the Dubai Frame entrance fee is incredibly budget-friendly! Adult tickets are just AED 50 (about $14 USD), and child tickets are AED 20 (about $5.50 USD)—an absolute steal!
Since the Dubai Frame is a bit of a walk from the nearest metro station, if you're on a tight schedule or doing a quick layover, we highly recommend booking a half-day Dubai city tour that includes the Dubai Frame. For travelers short on time, this is a hassle-free, brain-free way to quickly visit the Old City, the Dubai Frame, and even snap photos with the Burj Al Arab. Just a heads-up based on our experience: the downside of this tour is that you'll likely only do a drive-by of Atlantis The Palm, meaning you'll have to take photos from inside the vehicle!

🔖 Dubai Frame Experience
The entrance to the Dubai Frame~

Looking up from the bottom, it is truly spectacular!

Rather than just calling it a picture frame, we like to think of it as a time machine! Once you enter, the tour route is clearly divided into three stages, taking us on a journey to witness Dubai's past, marvel at its present, and look forward to its future!
The Past: Old Dubai Gallery
After passing through security, you'll walk down a gallery that feels a lot like the Dubai Museum. It beautifully tells the history of how Dubai transformed from a humble little fishing village into the sprawling, skyscraper-filled metropolis it is today.
The Present: 48th Floor Observation Deck
After exploring Dubai's history, a swift 47-second elevator ride whisks you up to the observation deck on the 48th floor! By the way, the Dubai Frame wasn't just built anywhere—it’s strategically positioned right on the borderline dividing Old Dubai and New Dubai, meaning the views on either side are completely different! When you step out of the elevator, the deck on your right showcases New Dubai (built mostly in the last 20 years), while the left side reveals Old Dubai (the city's original appearance). Right in the middle is a long glass walkway that gives you a crystal-clear view of the ground far below~

To create the beautiful patterns on the frame's exterior, the windows on the observation deck are unique—they're overlaid with gorgeous geometric patterns!

Looking at the city through these golden patterns gives the view a really special vibe!

New Dubai side! You can easily spot the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

It's honestly mind-boggling to think that allllll these massive skyscrapers were built within just 20 years! So, what did Dubai look like before all this? Just take a look out the Old Dubai side and you'll see!

The buildings in Old Dubai are much lower, and the architectural style is quite uniform and traditional.

To us, the Dubai Frame is so much more than just an observation deck. There’s probably nowhere else in the world quite like Dubai—a place that rapidly transformed from a tiny fishing village into a modern, internationally renowned metropolis in just two decades of insane development. It's exactly because of this unique history that the line between the old and new cities is so starkly visible. You can build an observation deck anywhere, but to have a view this extraordinarily contrasting and meaningful? Only the Dubai Frame can deliver that!!!

After taking in the city views, it's time to check out the ultra-popular glass walkway in the center! It lets you look straight down 48 stories to the ground below~~

Honestly, my (Cherry's) legs turned completely to jelly when I first stepped on it! Especially seeing so many tall, burly tourists walking on it, my brain automatically switched into "worrying about the glass weight capacity mode" and I started imagining the glass shattering… 😆 But Kevin reassured me, pointing out that this glass corridor actually has two layers. Looking closely, there really is another thick layer of glass a few meters below the one we were standing on! That gave me a much-needed confidence boost, and I wasn't nearly as scared after that.

Eventually, we totally got addicted to walking on it! Kevin later noticed that the glass walkway occasionally flashes opaque white (just for about a second at a time). When it turns white, you can't see the ground below at all.

One last reminder for everyone: Before leaving the observation deck, remember to look for the green screen photo booth where you can take a composite photo! (We were so focused on taking our own photos and playing on the glass walkway that we completely missed it…) We didn't realize it until we saw 👇🏻 this at the exit! It was such a heartbreaking discovery!

If you do take photos on the deck, you can pick up your merged photo with the Dubai Frame at the exit. Though to be fair, there are a lot of people in the background of these photos anyway (← Cherry trying hard to comfort herself…).

The Future: Future Dubai Gallery
After finishing up at the observation deck, we took the elevator back down. We were guided through a futuristic tunnel and watched an immersive video about the future of Dubai (no photography allowed in this section). And with that, our amazing Dubai Frame tour came to an end!

Looking closely from the ground outside, you can actually see the glass walkway up top!

The long glass corridor is divided into three sections.

After visiting the Dubai Frame, we gained a much deeper understanding of Dubai's past, present, and future. To this day, it's still Cherry's number one pick for the most cost-effective, must-visit attraction in Dubai! If you have the chance to visit Dubai, definitely take this incredible journey through time!
