Ever since we saw the transparent waterslide at Aquaventure Waterpark while planning our Dubai itinerary, we knew we had to fit this waterpark at Atlantis, The Palm into our schedule, no matter what! Come to think of it, it’s been over twenty years since our last visit to a waterpark (oops, definitely giving away our age there 😆)! Especially for Cherry, who isn't the biggest fan of swimming, waterparks have never been particularly appealing. But this time, for the chance to slide through a transparent tube surrounded by sharks, we just had to go for it!

🐠 Pre-trip Tips & Things to Note
-
Don't bring too many personal belongings.
The lockers inside the waterpark aren't cheap—they cost AED 45 (about USD $12). Cherry and Fish took turns changing, and then we stuffed all our personal items into just one locker (hooray for budget hacks!!!). -
You can bring your own towel (but don't bring an expensive one, as there's a risk of it getting stolen).
Renting a single towel at the park also costs AED 45 (USD $12). Right next to the water rides, there are unlocked cubbies where you can leave non-valuable items like your flip-flops and towels. -
Remember to bring a waterproof phone pouch!
Besides letting you take photos with your phone, you can store your towel rental voucher inside it until you need to exchange it at one of the many towel counters. In our case, we redeemed our towels super early and left them on beach chairs… and when we came back from the rides, our rented towels had vanished into thin air! (We were so shocked that someone would actually take a used towel 😱…) Thankfully, when we went to the towel counter to explain what happened, they kindly gave us new ones for free!

You'll see these little green-roofed huts (like the one on the left in the photo above) all over the park—these are the counters where you can redeem your towels.
🐠 Transparent Waterslide & Other Recommended Facilities (with Map)
Because the two of us foolishly went to The Lost Chambers Aquarium first that day, and completely lost track of time taking a million photos… we didn't get to the waterpark until 2:30 PM. By the time we changed and locked up our valuables, it was already 3:00 PM, leaving us with only two and a half hours before closing time! We stared blankly at the maze-like map, completely dumbfounded. In our panic, we couldn't even find the Shark Attack transparent waterslide we wanted to go on the most… We eventually just had to grab someone and ask for directions. So, to save you the hassle, we’ve put together this guide covering the spots we visited and the must-play attractions:
- Transparent Waterslide: Shark Attack
- Boss-Level Transparent Waterslide: Leap of Faith
- The Rapids
- Aquaventure Beach

1. Transparent Waterslide: Shark Attack
First up, you absolutely cannot miss this waterslide (Note: kids under 120cm cannot ride). This transparent tube goes straight through a massive aquarium! You glide slowly in a clear inflatable tube right past all the marine life! It. Is. So. Cool. 😍😍😍

This transparent waterslide is located on the third floor of the Tower of Neptune (in Dubai, they call it the "Second Floor").

Before you line up, remember to grab an inflatable tube! If you can't find an empty one, head over to Torrent Beach (marked as #3 on my map below)—that's the main hub for them.

Once you have your tube, remember to drop your towel, flip-flops, and other items in the unlocked cubbies next to the stairs (shown below). For this transparent waterslide, you CAN bring a waterproof camera! Even though Shark Attack starts on the third floor, when we went, the queue started all the way down on the second floor…
Head up the stairs (shown below) to the second floor, go inside, and you should see the line on your left. You have to go in, turn left, turn left again, and turn left one more time up the stairs before you finally reach the starting point on the third floor. The signage really isn't very clear (so if you get lost, just ask the staff).

We queued for a solid hour… but we finally made it!

At the starting point, the waterslide ahead is pitch black~ and it looks incredibly steep! The fear of the unknown definitely made me a bit nervous…

Amidst the pitch-black slide and Cherry's dramatic screaming (thank goodness you guys couldn't hear it)… suddenly, everything brightened up! We had reached the transparent part of the slide!

So this is what it looks like from the inside~

Honestly, the fish on the left and right sides aren't super clear because of the reflections on the tube, but the fish swimming right above us were very clear!

On the right side, you can faintly see people watching from the outside.

On the left side, you can catch a glimpse of the other boss-level transparent waterslide, the Leap of Faith.

If you want to take better photos, you can ride a single tube. We rode a double tube (so all our selfies were just giant floating heads 😆), but we ended up snapping an amazing solo shot for the random guy behind us!!!

Honestly, the whole ride probably only lasts a few dozen seconds? Before we knew it, we were at the exit~

There's a professional photographer at the exit snapping pictures, and you can view your photos later using the barcode on your wristband.

Just out of the exit and to the right (opposite the cubbies) is a spot where you can take photos of the transparent waterslide from the outside!

There really are so many fish~

To sum up, this waterslide isn't too terrifying (Cherry is a total wimp who usually only dares to hang out in the kids' zone at theme parks 😆). Even though we later felt that watching the fish from the outside was actually prettier than from inside the slide, this unique experience is still an absolute must-try!
2. Boss-Level Transparent Waterslide: Leap of Faith

The Leap of Faith is truly next-level. You plunge down at a near-vertical angle from nine stories high! After the drop, you shoot through another transparent tube surrounded by sharks. This is hands down the most thrilling ride in the waterpark! It also starts at the Tower of Neptune, but up on the fourth floor (in Dubai, the "Third Floor"). You literally drop out of what looks like a giant mouth, and the angle of the drop is just way too terrifying!!!

Naturally, kids under 120cm aren't allowed on this one. But, speaking as an adult well over 120cm… I had absolutely zero intention of riding it anyway! 😆
When we were looking for Shark Attack and asking for directions, the waterpark staff highly recommended this one to us… (Luckily, I had done my homework and didn't fall for his trap, making a swift escape!). But the Leap of Faith is super famous, so we highly recommend it to any of our brave friends out there!!
3. The Rapids
While we were totally lost, we happened to see people leisurely floating down a river in their tubes. No walking required—just lie back and take in the waterpark scenery! We were instantly drawn to it, and after asking around, we found out it's called the Rapids!

The starting point is at Torrent Beach, the same place you pick up the tubes!

Following the current~ off we go!

Just follow the Rapids signs, and eventually, you'll reach a conveyor belt/elevator~

Along the way, you pass through quite a few exciting, choppy sections.

You can also just relax and enjoy the scenery. It felt like we circled almost the entire park, which somewhat made up for the fact that we didn't have time to ride everything!

The whole journey takes quite a while—it felt like at least twenty to thirty minutes.

By the time we finished the Rapids, time didn't allow for any other rides 😭. We didn't even have time to change clothes; we just rushed over to the beach before it got completely dark to catch the sunset~
4. Aquaventure Beach

You can even see the Burj Al Arab (the sail-shaped hotel) from the waterpark's beach!

The elevated bridge on the right side of the photo below is the Monorail track. If you want to take the Monorail to Atlantis, check out our extended guide: Atlantis Transport Guide

We originally wanted to walk closer to the Atlantis hotel to take some photos, but we discovered that the beach area directly next to Atlantis is a restricted zone exclusively for hotel guests~
To sum it up, because the famous waterslides at this park require a lot of queueing time, we ended up leaving reluctantly before we could experience everything! There were so many areas we didn't even get to walk through 😭.
If you're planning a trip to Aquaventure Waterpark and are determined to go on the famous waterslides, we highly recommend setting aside at least 4 to 5 hours so you don't feel rushed! If you buy the combo ticket for the waterpark and The Lost Chambers Aquarium, we suggest doing the waterpark first. The aquarium is open until 9:00 PM, but the waterpark closes at 6:00 PM!
