There’s more to Bora Bora than just overwater bungalows! The King Horizon Suite at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui proves with its unbeatable balcony ocean views that a hillside room can absolutely rival an overwater villa!! Overlooking the Bora Bora ocean from the hillside, the view is endless. The water transitions in distinct layers from Tiffany blue to light blue and deep navy. Peaceful overwater bungalows line up neatly on the water, while a few palm trees on the slope add the perfect touch of vacation vibes~ We have to say, purely in terms of the view, both the hillside and overwater bungalows have their own unique beauty, and it's hard to pick a winner! In this post, let's unbox this stunning suite together!

🌴 Inside the Suite

Right as you walk in, the entryway features a cabinet with a coffee maker. Inside the cabinet, there's a mini-fridge and some cups for tea and coffee, along with a kettle and an ice bucket (we actually forgot to take a picture of this because it's so similar to the setup in the overwater bungalows!). Next to the entryway is a cozy sofa~~

Behind the sofa is a window where you can gaze out at the lush green gardens outside~

In front of the sofa is the TV wall, and directly behind this TV wall~

There is another TV!!

So whether you're relaxing on the sofa or lounging in bed, you can comfortably watch TV~~~ Such a thoughtful design! 😍😍😍

I later noticed that the interior layout of this room is almost exactly the same as the Lagoon View Suite. The only difference is in the materials used—for example, this TV wall is made of wood, whereas the Lagoon View Suite has a white wall. Overall, this room gives off much more of a forest cabin vacation vibe.

The bed features a dreamy princess-style design, surrounded by beautiful white sheer curtains!

Beautiful fresh flowers were thoughtfully placed on the bed.

Next to the bed, there's a small desk and an entire wall of cabinets with plenty of space to store your luggage~

🌴 Bathroom

The overall space in the bathroom is slightly smaller than the one in the overwater bungalow, but it still features double vanities and a freestanding bathtub~ The design continues the room's resort cabin style, utilizing a generous amount of natural wood tones.

The vanity counter is incredibly spacious, with plenty of convenient shelves underneath for storage.

The shower and the toilet area use the same patterned tiles. These earth-toned tiles paired with the wooden walls make the space feel incredibly cozy and relaxing~

To ensure the TV wall design in the bedroom doesn't look out of place, the bathroom entrances were cleverly designed as double sliding doors. The doorframe between the two doors perfectly aligns with the TV wall, meaning the view looking out from the bathroom is sliced right down the middle—a pretty unique touch!

🌴 Amenities

The toiletries provided are the signature "Shanghai Tang" brand used by Hilton's Conrad properties. One small detail we noticed is that the flowers in this suite are artificial orchids~ whereas the overwater bungalows feature fragrant, fresh flowers!

🌴 Turndown Service

During the turndown service every evening, foot mats are placed by the bed, and bottles of water are left on the nightstands for us.

🌴 Unbeatable Ocean View Balcony

Finally, we absolutely have to talk about this massive, massive, massive bonus: the balcony! Because it's perched up high, the balcony offers a spectacular, sweeping view~~ The endless ocean, framed by blue skies, fluffy white clouds, overwater bungalows, and palm trees, looks exactly like a masterpiece painting! 😍😍😍

Alas, you can't have your cake and eat it too. The only minor regret is that, since you're up on the hill, you can't just jump straight into the water for a quick snorkel whenever the mood strikes, like you can with an overwater bungalow.

However, just sitting on this balcony, admiring the view, and spending a lazy afternoon is incredibly comfortable! Unfortunately for us, since we didn't leave our room at all when we stayed in the overwater bungalow, we squeezed all our activities into the days after we moved into this suite. We spent the whole day busy enjoying the resort's facilities or going on day tours, so we never really got to sit back and properly appreciate the view from the balcony…

Another bonus of this suite's location is that, since it's on the hillside, it's very close to the hillside SPA center and the observation deck. The view from inside the SPA center is arguably the most beautiful in the entire resort. If you have the chance, you absolutely shouldn't miss getting a spa treatment here!

And the observation deck, located at the highest point of the resort, offers a clear view of Mount Otemanu—another absolute must-visit spot! For a more detailed introduction to the SPA center and observation deck, please click here.

The slight downside to the location is that it's quite far from all the main water facilities, beaches, pools, and restaurants down by the shore~ If you want to walk, it involves a fairly steep uphill and downhill trek. Because of this, you really have to double-check that you have everything you need before heading out. If you forget something, a round trip on the golf cart buggy, plus the wait time, could easily take over half an hour!!!

Let's do a quick wrap-up of the pros and cons of the King Horizon Suite~

  • Pros: Cheaper than an overwater bungalow, breathtaking views, and close to the SPA and observation deck.
  • Cons: Far from the beach and other main hotel facilities, and you can't step directly into the ocean to snorkel.

In conclusion, if you have a packed itinerary and won't be spending all day in your room, and you're looking to save a bit on travel expenses, the King Horizon Suite is a fantastic choice~ Of course, traveling all this way to Bora Bora, many people probably share Cherry's personal dream 👉🏻 to stay in an overwater bungalow at least once, right!!?? If that's the case, then without a doubt, our top recommendation is still the overwater bungalow!!!

Here we’ve shared our little thoughts and experiences staying in the King Horizon Suite. We hope this helps with your Bora Bora travel planning, and we wish you all the most perfect, unforgettable memories in Bora Bora!!
