Conrad Bora Bora Nui Review

Conrad Bora Bora Nui underwent a massive renovation and officially rebranded under Hilton's luxury Conrad portfolio in 2017. This makes it one of the newer resort options among Hilton properties in Tahiti! (If you're curious, the other Hilton property in French Polynesia is the Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa located on Moorea. 👉🏻 Click here for more of our Moorea travel guides!)

🌴 Location & Transport

Situated on Motu To'opua, a private islet in Bora Bora, the only way in and out is by boat! It’s about a 5 to 10-minute boat ride from the main island of Vaitape. For airport transfers, you can take the resort's private shuttle boat (about a 20-minute ride each way, costing around $130 USD round-trip per person). Alternatively, you can take Air Tahiti's free shuttle boat to Vaitape and then transfer to the resort’s shuttle (which is only $15 USD round-trip per person). Click here for our detailed guide on taking the shuttle boats!

🌴 Buffet Breakfast

When having breakfast at the Conrad, the food almost takes a backseat. Why? Because the ocean views are absolutely STUNNING!!! 👇🏻

Staring out at Bora Bora's invincible ocean views while eating breakfast makes literally anything taste amazing! That being said, Conrad still delivers a very impressive breakfast spread (and it's free for Hilton Honors Gold members and above!).

Source:Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

The buffet breakfast is served at the resort's French restaurant, Iriatai. The spread offers a wide variety of international cuisines, including Western, Chinese, and Japanese dishes. The hot food selection even changes up almost every day!

Tahiti's national dish, Poisson Cru (👇🏻 top left in the photo below), is a daily staple here. Poisson Cru literally means 🍣 "raw fish" in French. It's prepared by tossing raw fish with fresh vegetables, then marinating it in lime juice and coconut milk. This is an iconic Tahitian dish you simply must try—almost every restaurant serves it! Sometimes they swap the fish for crab 🦀, lobster 🦞, octopus 🦑, or mussels, though the resort mostly sticks to the classic raw fish version during our stay.

Tahiti is a French territory, and it shows! The buffet's selection of pastries 🧁, breads 🥖, and baked goods 🥐 is fantastic! If raw fish isn't your thing, there’s another authentic Tahitian breakfast treat that is Cherry's personal favorite 👉🏻 Firi Firi (👇🏻 bottom right). It's a deep-fried dough made from flour, sugar, and coconut milk, resembling a twisted donut in both look and texture. While Firi Firi isn't available every single day, whenever it made an appearance, Cherry made sure to grab some!

While the breakfast selection is quite diverse, it is definitely a bit smaller compared to the massive spreads we've seen at places like the JW Marriott Phu Quoc. But considering we are on the remote island of Bora Bora, where almost all ingredients have to be imported by sea or air, we felt the breakfast here was incredibly generous! Beyond the buffet, the resort also offers an à la carte breakfast and beverage menu (for an extra fee) if you're looking for something specific.

The à la carte breakfast menu~

One lovely little detail is that every morning, the resort places a printed A4 "mini newspaper" 📰 on your breakfast table. That small piece of paper somehow felt like our only connection to the outside world, gently reminding us that while we were lounging in paradise, the rest of the world was still turning 😆. Sometimes, they also include a schedule of the day's resort activities—like the Polynesian Fire Show and Buffet shown below 👇🏻.

A delicious breakfast paired with Bora Bora's breathtaking ocean views is truly the perfect way to kick off a day in this dream island paradise! (Cherry's pro tip: Remember to apply mosquito repellent before heading out for breakfast! The surrounding greenery means the mosquitoes are quite fierce. We forgot on our first day and ended up with legs covered in bites! 😭)

🌴 Infinity Pool

An infinity pool is a must-have for any high-end resort, and the Conrad certainly delivers! Prominently located right in the heart of the resort, it's impossible to miss. The massive pool is lined with lush palm trees, giving it the ultimate tropical vacation vibe. 🌴🌴🌴

The poolside cabanas are the absolute "prime real estate" for lounging around the resort, and they get snagged up fast! These cabanas feature massive loungers the size of double beds, complete with a small headboard and piles of plush pillows. It essentially feels like they moved your hotel bed right next to the pool! Beyond the cabanas, there are plenty of regular lounge chairs around the deck, and even a row of partially submerged loungers right in the water—perfect for sunbathing!

The infinity pool is an amazing spot to lazily spend your entire day. The views are incredible whether it's broad daylight or dusk! Cherry personally thinks the sunset view here beats the daytime view. The sky painted in fiery orange and red hues, an empty pool, tranquil overwater bungalows, and the calm water reflecting the silhouettes of palm trees—it feels exactly like a utopian paradise~

🌴 Free Beach Facilities

When you step into a resort like the Conrad Bora Bora Nui, you can honestly stay put until checkout without ever feeling bored. They offer a ton of facilities to help you happily pass your "Tahiti Time" 😆. Let's check out what the beach has to offer!

🐠 Beach Counter

The counter right by the beach offers free towels, ice-cold lemon water, sunscreen, and sometimes even fresh fruit!!

🐠 Kayaks, Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUP), and Pedal Boats

Lined up along the beach are colorful kayaks, SUPs, and pedal boats available for guests to borrow. Just head to the beach counter, give them your room number, and you're good to go! Each rental is for 1 hour. If you want to keep going, just check back with the counter after your hour is up—if there's no line, you can easily extend your session.

These water sports are a fantastic way to get an up-close look at the overwater bungalows from the water, as well as the corals and fish swimming below. We highly recommend trying them out!

Besides admiring the bungalows and marine life, don't forget to paddle out a bit further to catch a view of Bora Bora's iconic Mt. Otemanu! Because we visited during the rainy season, we frequently had partly cloudy days. We had to paddle out "four times" 😱 before we finally caught a clear, cloud-free glimpse of the majestic mountain peak!!

🐠 Sand Toys

Life jackets are available on the beach if you need them. Right next to the life jackets, there's a huge pile of sand toys for kids. So if you're traveling with little ones, you don't need to pack any sand toys of your own!

🐠 Fish Food

Cherry absolutely, highly recommends buying fish food from the beach counter!!! Just find a nice coral patch you like, toss some food in, and you'll instantly have a massive school of tropical fish swirling around you. It's an incredible way to interact with the marine life!

The sign selling the fish food clearly states that feeding bread to the fish is harmful to the local ecosystem. We did see some people bringing canned fish to feed them, but since we aren't marine experts, we weren't sure how canned fish might affect the environment. To protect the beautiful corals and our tropical fish friends, we decided to purchase the resort's official fish food for XPF 1,233 (about $12 USD)~~ While it's definitely not cheap for fish food, keeping the environment safe is priceless!!

Anywhere around the resort, you'll find sprawling, beautiful coral reefs. The moment you sprinkle the fish food, it causes a joyful frenzy underwater as schools of fish rush over! We even met one brave little tropical fish who wasn't afraid of us at all—it swam right up and nibbled the food directly out of our hands. So much fun!

🌴 Resort Activities Overview

There's a bulletin board at the beach counter listing the daily resort activities (some of which require a fee). We snapped a photo for your reference! However, we had our own itinerary packed so full during our stay that we actually didn't join any of the scheduled resort activities~

🌴 Game Room

Source:Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

Located right next to the Iriatai French restaurant, the game room shares the same elegant design aesthetic—right down to the stylish chandeliers. Set in a room with super-high ceilings, it features comfy sofa seating and a billiards table. It's a wonderful, relaxing space to hang out and play a few games.

🌴 Dining Options

🍴 Iriatai French Restaurant

  • Operating Hours:
    Breakfast 7:00am - 10:30am
Dinner 6:00pm - 9:30pm (Closed for dinner on Tuesdays)

Source:Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

The daily buffet breakfast is hosted here at Iriatai, allowing you to lazily sip your coffee while gazing out at Bora Bora's unbeatable ocean views and the iconic overwater bungalows. Since French cuisine is often quite expensive in many countries, compared to the resort's other barbecue, Japanese, or Chinese options, we felt this French restaurant actually offered the best value for money! We had dinner here during our stay—the plating was gorgeous, and the flavors exceeded our expectations!

Below is a reference menu, click here for the full menu.

🍴 Banyan Chinese Restaurant

  • Operating Hours: Dinner 6:00pm - 9:30pm (Closed on Tuesdays and Fridays)

Source:Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

The resort's Chinese restaurant, Banyan, is certainly on the pricier side, but if you're suddenly craving Asian flavors, it's great to have the option! Click here for the full menu.

🍴 Tamure Beach Grill

  • Operating Hours: Daily 11:30am - 3:30pm (Hosts the Polynesian Fire Show Buffet on Tuesday evenings)

Source:Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

At this beachfront grill, the floor is literally the soft beach sand, and the roof is a rustic wooden structure, giving it an authentic, laid-back island vibe.

Source:Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

Located right next to the infinity pool, this restaurant offers sweeping views of the pool and the resort's lagoon. There is even a seating area situated in the middle of the pool! The menu is quite diverse, featuring salads 🥗, burgers 🍔, pizzas 🍕, steaks, grilled seafood, as well as some local Tahitian specialties. Click here for the full menu. Aside from serving lunch daily, it’s also the venue for the Polynesian Fire Show and Buffet every Tuesday night (extra fee applies). Because of this special Tuesday night event, all other restaurants in the resort (except the bar) are closed on Tuesdays. (Info as of March 2019)

🍴 Upa Upa Lounge Bar

  • Operating Hours: Daily 5:00pm - 11:00pm

Source: Conrad Bora Bora Nui web page

This bar arguably boasts the most expansive views in the entire resort. From the outdoor seating area, you can gaze out over the endless ocean and watch the resort's private dock.

Food-wise, they primarily serve Japanese sushi 🍣. And since it's a lounge bar, expect an excellent selection of wines 🍷 and craft cocktails 🍸! Click here for the full menu.

🍴 Tarava Pool Bar

  • Operating Hours: Daily 10:00am - 6:00pm

The obligatory resort pool bar! It mainly serves up the light bites and refreshing drinks you need to fuel up between swimming and beach lounging. They even offer fresh coconuts 🥥 branded with "Conrad Bora Bora Nui" that are just begging to be Instagrammed~ Click here for the full menu.

The bar has seating both in the water (swim-up style!) and on dry land. The views of the infinity pool are lovely, and the snacks are quite good too!

🍴 Authentic Dining Experiences

This is one evening activity (extra fee required) that we really regret missing! Every Friday, the resort sets up tables and chairs directly on the beach for an Authentic Tahitian Dining Experience. The entrance is beautifully decorated with palm fronds and tropical flowers—it looked so incredibly romantic! Compared to the lively Tuesday night buffet, this event didn't seem as heavily promoted, but it looked much more intimate and closely tied to local culture! (Info as of March 2019)

🌴 SPA & Sauna

The resort's Hina Spa is nestled at the very top of the hillside~

The views from the spa's balcony are absolutely SPECTACULAR. We had no idea they were hiding the most premium views up here in the spa!!!

Besides booking spa treatments, guests can also use the spa's steam room and sauna for free, without needing a reservation! Just pop in and let the staff know you'd like to use the sauna facilities. There are separate men's and women's locker rooms equipped with lockable storage, lotions, towels, hair dryers, and more.

The shower rooms are fully stocked with bath towels, shampoo, and conditioner—they really have everything! They even provide disposable underwear. You literally don't need to bring a thing with you, which is so convenient!

After unwinding in the sauna and steam room, you can head outside where they provide lemon water, fresh fruit, and plush loungers to meditate or just lazily do nothing. The little window next to the loungers also frames a perfectly picturesque view!

🌴 Chapel & Observation Deck

Right next to the spa is an absolute essential for any dream honeymoon destination: a charming little wedding chapel 💒. With its high vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows at the front, it scores a 10/10 for tropical resort vibes!

At the entrance to the chapel, there's a lovely shaded pavilion with gorgeous views~

Right by the chapel is an observation deck that our golf cart driver highly recommended. He claimed it’s the best spot in the entire Conrad resort to catch the sunset and take in Bora Bora's landmark, Mt. Otemanu!

The tricky part about visiting Bora Bora in the rainy season is the unpredictable mix of sunshine, clouds, and brief showers. Once the clouds roll in, Mt. Otemanu's peak completely disappears. We came up here several times before we finally caught it clearly! Because of the direction it faces, you don't actually see the sun dip below the horizon from here. However, watching the colorful afterglow of the sunset light up Mt. Otemanu is truly magical and absolutely worth the trek up!

🌴 Wedding Packages

Having a wedding and honeymoon in Tahiti is the ultimate dream for so many brides!! During our stay, we actually ran into a couple tying the knot. The photo below shows their "wedding car"—a golf cart adorably decked out in fresh tropical flowers!!

A romantic private dinner for two on the beach (of course, you don't have to get married to experience this! 😆 )

We also spotted another couple taking their wedding photos. They even brought out a traditional Tahitian outrigger canoe, elaborately adorned with flowers! Getting married or shooting wedding photos in surreal, beautiful Bora Bora is just incredibly romantic and envy-inducing!!! Conrad offers a full suite of services tailored for weddings, so if you're interested, you can check out the details on their official website.

Conrad Bora Bora Nui was completely remodeled and rebranded under the Hilton Conrad name in 2017. As a result, the decor and design still feel very fresh, modern, and stylish. Even though most of the rooms don't face Mt. Otemanu, the coral reefs surrounding the resort are incredibly well-preserved, and the ocean is just jaw-droppingly beautiful! The resort provides comprehensive water facilities and excellent services, and the breakfast spread strikes a wonderful balance between international options and local flair. It is truly a "perfect" Bora Bora resort—once you check in, you’ll never want to leave!!
