Come to think of it, this spot was truly a local recommendation! When Cherry was researching for our trip, she couldn't find any information about it online. However, right before we headed out, we asked the front desk staff at the JW Marriott to help communicate our itinerary to our driver. The staff highly recommended that we add this floating restaurant to our plans.

When our private driver first dropped us off, we suddenly found ourselves in a small village with unpaved dirt roads everywhere! To be honest, we were a little shocked at first (please forgive our city-slicker moment XD). When the hotel staff told us about a floating restaurant, our minds instantly pictured a glamorous, resort-style dining spot like this 👇🏻 ~

But honestly, this is the true face of the undeveloped side of Phu Quoc—incredibly natural, rustic, and so close to the real lives of the locals!

As we strolled past the houses along the dirt road, we finally spotted the restaurant's sign~

After following the sign and turning the corner, Cherry was completely blown away by the breathtaking scenery waiting for us! There was a whole row of vacation vibes along the shore 🌴 🌴 🌴, and a line of tin-roofed houses built right over the water, giving off a completely unique and charming atmosphere.

A long wooden pier led us straight out to the floating restaurant ahead.

The southern part of Phu Quoc is a heavily developed resort paradise, boasting ultra-luxurious hotels, the world's longest over-sea cable car, and more. Yet, just an hour's drive to the north, the landscape is completely different! In that moment, we were absolutely captivated by the raw, natural beauty of this unpolished little village. With rolling mountains in the distance surrounded by the vast ocean, a long wooden bridge stretching over the water, and fishing boats scattered across the sea… what a beautiful, tranquil landscape painting!

There are actually a few different floating restaurants here. Unfortunately, we arrived right around sunset, so the restaurants had already closed for the day. But the scenery here was undeniably stunning! With the mountains and sea as a backdrop, the long little bridge, and the floating restaurant in front of us, it truly felt like a scene straight out of a painting! The whole atmosphere was incredibly relaxing and peaceful.

There were only a sparse few groups of foreign tourists along the entire path~

Some locals genuinely live every day inside this gorgeous landscape painting! We even ran into a local Vietnamese guy with unbelievable riding skills—while we were walking carefully, terrified of falling into the sea, he was casually riding a scooter on this narrow wooden bridge… (and carrying a chainsaw, no less)!

At the end of the wooden bridge, we finally reached the floating restaurant!

The staff had already closed up shop and were washing dishes.

The overwater hut in the picture below is the restaurant's dining area. While it may not have fancy decor, the breathtaking view right before your eyes is simply priceless!

After chatting with the staff later, we found out that these floating restaurants serve freshly caught seafood. The ingredients are kept alive right in the sea beneath them—they literally save money on buying fish tanks! 😆 With very few tourists around, the floating restaurant felt incredibly serene and secluded under the warm glow of the setting sun.

If we weren't in a rush to head back to our hotel by 5 PM… we would have loved to stay until the sun had completely set.

The road leading up to the floating restaurant isn't even paved; it's all dirt tracks, showcasing a truly undeveloped, pristine landscape. Later on, the hotel staff told us that if you want to visit these floating restaurants, you really need to do it soon. Who knows when the northern part of Phu Quoc will be bought out by a huge conglomerate? Once that happens, this authentic, raw Phu Quoc charm might disappear forever!
