🌴 Inside the Executive Suite

Back in January 2019, we stayed at the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, Dubai for the first time and were left with a fantastic impression. After staying at two Renaissance properties, Cherry personally feels that their hotel designs are highly thematic. For instance, the Dubai Renaissance was designed around the local desert specialty—the camel! 🐫🐫🐫 Meanwhile, this Renaissance Bali hotel incorporates traditional Balinese Ikat dyeing techniques as its main theme, successfully blending Balinese elements into this ultra-new, stylishly decorated suite without feeling out of place!

The artwork hanging above the bed features traditional woven fabric patterns. The piece above the sofa is a magnified view of the traditional weave, clearly showing its intricate structure. The touch of red in the artwork, paired with the red throw pillows and the red coffee machine, acts as a perfect accent color. It successfully injects warmth into the room's primary color palette of black, white, and natural wood tones~

The very first thing we felt walking into this suite was—Wow! It's so spacious!!! It's rare to find a resort room that actually feels even bigger in person than it looks in the website photos!

Right in the center of the room is an oversized kitchen island, which is quite rare for hotels! This island design is incredibly practical. In many hotels, if you want to wash a cup or some utensils, you have to do it in the bathroom sink because that's where the only faucet is. The faucet built right into this suite's island solves that problem completely~

🌴 Welcome Gift

The welcome gift provided by the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort for Marriott Platinum members (as of Nov 2019) is probably our absolute favorite welcome gift ever, especially since we don't drink alcohol!

Three little geese wearing bamboo hats were lined up in a row, with black name tags around their necks reading "Putu", "Made", and "Nyoman". The Renaissance Navigator who escorted us to our room explained that these are the most common names given to the first, second, and third children in Indonesian families. So, the eldest child is often named Putu, the second Made, and the third Nyoman! The ever-curious Kevin suddenly blurted out, 👉🏻 "What about the fourth?" The Navigator's response was surprisingly adorable—she said the fourth, fifth, and sixth don't have names yet because they are still too little and are just the eggs sitting on the side~ Hahahaha 😆 By the way, those three geese, the bamboo basket, the eggs, and the chocolates are all meant to be taken home!!! We really loved how they presented this welcome gift in such a cute and culturally meaningful way! Isn't even the welcome gift completely Balinese style?

🌴 Bathroom

The absolute best part of this suite has to be the bathroom—it's so big you could literally twirl around in it!! At the far end of the bathroom, there's a massive window looking out into the garden, adding even more to that spacious feel! (Though, remember to pull down the blinds when you shower!) There is ambient indirect lighting under the sink, behind the mirrors, and on the ceiling, creating a warm and luxurious vibe.

The traditional Ikat weave pattern makes another appearance on the bathroom walls. The designer cleverly used mosaic tiles to recreate the look of woven fabric. Aside from admiring the designer, we were totally in awe of the tile layers—the craftsmanship is incredible! The floor tiles also mimic the texture of woven cloth, can you spot it?

The dual-sink vanity features a seamless, one-piece design that feels exceptionally high-end!

🌴 Amenities

As expected from a resort that just opened in mid-2018, the bathroom is completely open-concept without even a sliding door~ We strongly suspect this was designed specifically to target the honeymoon market! 😁

The bath amenities are from TokyoMilk, a brand full of mystery and luxury created by American designer Margot Elena.

A little sweetheart ❤️ tip~ The tap water in Bali has a distinct smell, so the resort thoughtfully provides bottled mineral water for us to use when brushing our teeth! Don't be as clueless as Cherry, who carelessly brushed her teeth with tap water for two whole days before quietly asking on the third day, "Does this water smell a bit weird to you?" Kevin just replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world~~ "Why else do you think there's bottled water in the bathroom?" 😱😱😱 Let's just say it's a miracle Cherry didn't end up with an upset stomach…

The amenities on the vanity are fully stocked and complete~

Inside the wardrobe, you'll find everything you need: bathrobes, slippers, umbrellas, an iron, and an ironing board! Speaking of which, I absolutely have to give a special shoutout to the bathrobes! Cherry has worn many hotel bathrobes, including plenty of comfortable ones, but this one remains unforgettable!!! It totally lives up to the "100% comfy" tag—it is seriously so comfortable! The issue with many hotel robes is that even if the material is nice, they often feel mismatched with the room's temperature, ending up too hot or too heavy. This robe, however, is incredibly soft, with just the right thickness so it feels light and completely unburdensome. Cherry heavily regrets not buying one to take home!

🌴 Mini Bar & Kitchen Island

The Mini Bar, ice bucket, and kettle are all neatly hidden away inside the cabinets! Here's a quick look at the price list for the snacks and alcohol in the Mini Bar!

There's a sleek red coffee machine on the kitchen island. Since the tap water isn't safe to drink, they fully restock the bottled mineral water every day, so running out is almost never an issue! The drawers in the island are meticulously organized, filled with tea bags, coffee capsules, and various types of glassware. There are teacups for brewing tea, mugs for coffee, glass tumblers for juice, and wine glasses—whatever you need, it's there! Finally, there's a beverage fridge completely stuffed with alcohol, so you unfortunately can't use it to chill anything else~

🌴 Garden

In addition to the spacious interior, our Executive Suite also came with a super large outdoor garden terrace, set up with various lounge chairs! However, because it's one massive shared terrace, there are no partition walls separating the gardens between the rooms, and you can even see the balconies of the rooms upstairs from our garden!

The garden is planted with all sorts of beautiful flowers~

🌴 Room Location

This hotel is quite unique because it's built into a hillside. Following the natural terrain, the buildings step down like a staircase. To go down a level, you have to walk to the adjacent building and transfer to another elevator. So, just getting from the lobby to our room required transferring several times~ For someone with zero sense of direction like Cherry, this was basically an extreme memory test! 😆

The resort is incredibly thoughtful, handing out a "navigation guide" to every guest during check-in. It breaks down the room numbering logic and explains exactly how to reach the different wings of the hotel. It's so sweet of them! Honestly, for our first two days here, Cherry was in a constant state of getting lost trying to find our room~

Finally~ To all our friends planning a honeymoon in Bali, pay attention! Unlike many hotels that just use towel animals and a few scattered petals to decorate a honeymoon suite, this Renaissance went all out, using a massive amount of petals to spell out "I ❤️ U" right on the floor. The contrast of the bright red petals against the black floor tiles is absolutely stunning, isn't it??

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, they even included a brownie and macarons~ The front desk staff had originally told us our selected welcome drinks were non-alcoholic, but upon realizing they actually contained alcohol, they quickly called our room to apologize and sent up two fresh coconuts to replace them!

Considering the overall design of this suite, the incredible spaciousness, the comfort level, and the high-quality service provided by the hotel staff, this stay genuinely exceeded all our expectations! We were absolutely amazed! Whether you're traveling to Bali for a free-and-easy holiday or a romantic honeymoon, it is highly recommended to stay here and experience it for yourself!!!
